Jon Turnbull has been playing since the early 90s moving quickly through the Birmingham and Midlands club scene regularly playing top slot at many of Birminghams most prestigious and memorable all night venues including....Cappella, The Steering wheel,Tintins,The Que Club, The Institute, Crunch, Gods Kitchen, The Custard Factory, Slag, The Square, No Bitchin, and many many more.
His commitment to his craft and passion for the scene was further demonstrated by the opening of " Choon Records " a record shop in Sutton Coldfield selling nothing but underground dance music from house and Techno to Drum & Bass. This helped enhance his profile to such an extent that he was able to secure bookings nationwide including The Pleasure Rooms Leeds, Delux Nottingham, Tut-Tut Kidderminster, U.K Wandsworth London, The Fridge London, all of which enabled him to polish his art further and command large audiences on every performance.
After two years of playing on the national circuit the lure of an international audience became inevitable and so bookings in Australia and South-East Asia quickly followed taking in Melbourne Sydney Brisbane with airtime on Choice Fm ( At the time Melbournes No 1 dance music station) and making appearances at smaller private parties in between the big city gigs.
Two of the many highlights that Jon enjoyed was landing top slot at the opening night of the Mansion Club in Melbourne, and a full moon party on Gillie Trowangan, a tiny island of the coast of Bali which completed a Southern Hemisphere tour which lasted 11 months.
From this point Jon secured two more international bookings one in Marbella ( Spain ) and another in Farmagusta ( Cyprus )
Through all the years that Jon has been playing, including the time he took off to attend to family commitments which he still holds close, his music policy has remained the same. Chunky and funky with those long dirty club baselines.
Throughout the last 20 yrs or so his feet have always remained grounded and when asked why he continues to play his reply to this day remains the same " I love it, I'm just a normal clubber that brought myself some decks".
